Warped Table

As a combination of pearwood and aluminum this gently curved desk, for one of our favorite clients, uses each material for its highest best use. Pearwood is a sumptuous material, warm and soft, delightful to touch and useful in both veneer and solid forms. Aluminum is strong and light, easy to machine and impervious to warping by humidity or other environmental factors. The visible aluminum is matched by a honeycomb core on the desk span. Absolutely flat, rigid, thin and strong the top may never warp, but the whole desk is a study in warped forms.
