Neuman & Bogdonoff
New York

Neuman & Bogdonoff is a gourmet food store on Manhattan’s Upper East Side which expanded its retail division from 760 to 1600 square feet. Pentagram was commissioned to transform the shop from a specialty food boutique to a full-service neighborhood market, complete with cheese counters and fresh produce cases.

Elements of the interior design were borrowed from traditions of the local American deli, the French charcuterie and the elegant English food hall: bright lighting, white tile and grand arches. Classical and understated, the interior is a stage on which fresh and packaged foods are displayed to their best advantage. Bold graphics were designed for the storefront and awning to increase the shop’s presence at street level.
